The setbacks continue to mount. Last week, an unexpected snowstorm and ice forced delays. This week, the Puckarian youth tournament in the bustling city of Ville De Hunt presented another challenge—this time, a tournament of champions for the youngest cohort of Puckarians, the 8U team. What were once my weekends of hope—those precious moments to recover from the various obstacles on my journey—have proven fruitless over the past month. And, alas, I fear this unfortunate trend will persist into the next.

Though the weight of winter’s melancholy and the frustration of falling behind is undeniable, there was, however, a beacon of triumph. Witnessing the young 8U Puckarians claim the championship of the universe made it all worthwhile. Their flawless 10-0 march to victory was a sight I will not soon forget, especially the dramatic final goal with just 25 seconds left in the championship match—a 2-1 win over the formidable Wild! The story of these young warriors could not be rivaled by even the most fantastical of fables.

Yet, despite this brief moment of joy, the tournament remains a mere pause in the ongoing struggle of daily life. Spring cannot come soon enough. I look forward to the more favorable weather and, perhaps more crucially, a less crowded schedule, which will undoubtedly provide the time needed to recover from the delays and setbacks. The choice remains mine—whether I will succeed or falter. Much like the 8U Puckarians, I must forge my path forward.

Carpe vincere!
