General’s Log, Hair Date 78274.1:
After traveling a distance of 3.9635e-11 light years through the vast expanse of the cosmos, I find myself invigorated. My legs are gaining strength, my mind sharper than ever. I am becoming more resilient with each passing moment. As production begets production, I discover that the more I challenge myself, the greater my achievements become, and the simpler the tasks ahead appear.
This mission, while aimed at raising funds for a youth hockey summer camp in the Olive Branch sector, is as much a journey of self-discovery for a 44-year-old man navigating the nebulous realm of middle age, seeking purpose among the stars. Can I truly muster the resolve to rise from my quarters for 250 consecutive days to rollerblade for a virtuous objective? Will I endure the oncoming relentless, melancholic winter of Memphis Prime?
Now, twenty-two days into this endeavor, with two hundred twenty-eight days remaining, I reflect on the nature of our humanoid existence. We gaze into the future, yearning for what lies ahead, yet often neglect the milestones we've already reached. It is all too easy to forget to glance into the starship’s rearview mirror and acknowledge our progress. Motivation, I’ve learned, hinges on two key elements: a vision we chase and a recognition of our past accomplishments, no matter how small.
Completing 233 miles of a 2,000-mile challenge may seem like a mere blip—just north of eleven percent. I could choose to remain in the General’s chair, staring at the towering Olympus Mons-sized mountain of 1,767 miles yet to be traversed. But instead, I will take a moment to look back at those 233 miles conquered, knowing I possess the mental and physical fortitude to forge ahead.
Ascension!
